Utrecht tomorrow, six forecasts side by side

Temperature, feels-like and chance of rain for every hour, from the national and global weather models that cover the Netherlands, ranked by how much each should be trusted here.

Sources, most reliable first

Ranked by the resolution of the model over the Netherlands, its published verification skill, and how it is tuned for this region.

  1. 1KNMIHARMONIE-AROME, 2 kmThe Dutch national model. Convection-permitting at 2 km, tuned to KNMI's own station network, fresh runs every hour. Best at timing the showers (buien) that make or break a Dutch day.
  2. 2ECMWFIFS HRES, 9 kmThe global model with the highest verification scores year after year. Coarser than KNMI, but its ensemble drives the rain probabilities most services quote.
  3. 3MET Norwayyr.no, ECMWF-basedECMWF output post-processed against observations. Widely used across Europe. Publishes no rain probability outside the Nordics.
  4. 4DWDICON-D2 / ICON-EU, 2–7 kmGermany's national model chain. ICON-D2 covers the Netherlands at 2 km, though Utrecht sits toward the western edge of its domain.
  5. 5Météo-FranceAROME / ARPEGE, 1.3–10 kmAROME is very fine, but the Netherlands lies at the far edge of its domain. No probability field is published.
  6. 6NOAAGFS, 25 kmThe US global model. Coarsest of the set and generally the weakest over western Europe. Useful as an outside view, not a first read.

Day trips from Amsterdam, driest first

Every common destination within about two hours, ranked by how much rain the three best models expect between 09:00 and 18:00 tomorrow. Click a destination to load its hourly forecast above. The south and east stay driest; everything north of Amsterdam and along the coast is the wet end.

Morning and afternoon chance of rain are the 09–12h and 15–18h ranges.Rain is the daytime total in mm from KNMI, DWD ICON and ECMWF.
Notes

Chance of rain is an ensemble product, not a single-model output. KNMI HARMONIE is deterministic, so Open-Meteo pairs it with the ECMWF ensemble probability. The KNMI and ECMWF rows therefore share the same percentages. ICON's comes from ICON-EPS and GFS's from GEFS. MET Norway and Météo-France publish rain amount but no probability for this location.

Feels like is each provider's own apparent temperature, combining wind, humidity and radiation. Methods differ slightly between providers, so small offsets between rows are partly method, not weather.

Day-trip verdicts mark a destination a best bet when its average daytime rain chance is at or below 50 %, KNMI expects 0.6 mm or less, and ECMWF 1.5 mm or less. Wet h counts hours with at least 0.1 mm in the KNMI model. Middelburg is listed for comparison but is beyond two hours by train.

Median columns and the summary strip take the middle value of whatever sources publish that field for that hour. They are a quick consensus, not a forecast anyone issued.
